PBL attempts to build collaborative learning communities using real-life problems. This book introduces the fundamental foundations of this methodology, reviewing its pedagogical and teaching principles and the most current proposals. The book presents the individual "self-regulated learning" approach and the group "collaborative learning" approach in the application of this methodology. At the same time, it examines the important role of the tutor or facilitator group in Problem-Based Learning. It also examines the most appropriate evaluation processes for this methodology, as well as the advantages and difficulties in applying this innovative learning in higher education settings. The book offers a series of practical cases from different university subjects.
