Eucharistic Devotion for Our Times
"I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever" (John 6:51)
At every altar in the world, the greatest miracle of love is renewed: the Word made flesh is given as food. In every consecrated host, the heart of Christ beats, forever open in an act of redemption. And yet, how many Christians have lost their capacity for wonder, how many hearts have grown cold before the mystery of the altar.
Therefore, on this solemnity of Corpus Christi, when the Church enters the church in procession, carrying the King hidden under the species of Bread, the call to return to adoration, to intimacy, to profound devotion resounds powerfully. From this spiritual urgency arises the Eucharistic Devotional , a work of our Paulinas publishing house, which seeks to be a burning torch for the faithful, a pastoral and spiritual instrument that rekindles the fire of Eucharistic love in their hearts.
The Eucharist, the beating heart of the Church
Celebrating Corpus Christi is not just commemorating; it is making present, with the whole Church, the great mystery of our faith: “We proclaim your death, we profess your resurrection, come, Lord Jesus!” In an increasingly fast-paced world, living amidst screens, noise, and distractions, the Eucharist is the oasis of eternity, the enduring tenderness of God who whispers: “I am with you always” (Mt 28:20).
The Eucharistic Devotional springs from that tireless tenderness, that love that longs to remain, accompany, and console. It is not simply a collection of prayers. It is a school of love, a pedagogy of adoration, a living guide for cultivating a deep and daily Eucharistic spirituality.
Its pages contain prayers that flowed from the lips of the saints, meditations that immerse us in the mystery of the Body and Blood of the Lord, short prayers to murmur in the midst of work or illness, outlines for Eucharistic adoration, spiritual communion, thanksgiving, and more. This book is a companion on the journey for all who long to live in constant communion with Jesus in the Eucharist.
From those first Christians who “broke bread with gladness and sincerity of heart” (Acts 2:46), to our own day, the Eucharist has been the vital center of the Church. From it vocations are born, mission is renewed, wounded souls are healed, and concrete acts of charity toward the most needy are nourished. There is no pastoral care without the Eucharist. There is no Church without communion. There is no Christian altar without sin.

To adore is to love in silence
“O Sacrament of Mercy, sign of unity and bond of charity!” sang Saint Augustine. To adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is not to waste time, but to lose oneself in Love. It is to remain with Him, like Mary at His feet, like John reclining on His breast. It is to allow silence to fall and His presence to transform.
The Eucharistic Devotional is a concrete and mystical invitation to rediscover adoration as an act of pure love, as a school of inner silence, as the very breath of the soul. For there is no transformation without adoration. Great personal and communal conversions are born of souls who have spent hours at the foot of the Tabernacle.
This space of encounter with the living Jesus opens us to a new intimacy, where formulas are unnecessary, only sincerity, where the soul is revealed and the Spirit acts. To adore is to let the light of Christ pierce us and send us back into the world with our faces ablaze.
An invitation to live Eucharistically
Corpus Christi cannot be reduced to a beautiful annual procession. It must become a Eucharistic way of life: living with a heart open to sharing and given out of love, living with gratitude, humility, and hope. In this Jubilee Year of Hope, what greater certainty can we have than knowing that God is with us, really and truly, in Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity?
We invite parishes, communities, families, movements and groups to make the Eucharistic Devotional a regular and fruitful pastoral resource:
- To encourage weekly worship.
- To accompany the Eucharistic formation of children, young people and adults.
- To provide spiritual support to the sick who are essentially unable to receive Holy Communion.
- To strengthen the interior life of consecrated persons and ordained ministers.
- To enrich the experience of perpetual adoration groups.
When the world hungers for meaning, God offers himself as Bread. When words are not enough, he remains as a silent presence. This Eucharistic Devotional is not just a collection of texts: it is a proposal for a Eucharistic life. It is not a book for closets or libraries, but a book for the soul.
Love made Bread, our Hope
On this Solemnity of Corpus Christi, let us open the doors of our hearts and our communities so that Jesus in the Eucharist may truly be the center of everything. And may this devotional be a lamp that guides us to the Tabernacle, where hope becomes present and love becomes Bread.

I adore you with devotion
I adore you with devotion, hidden God,
Truly hidden beneath these appearances.
My heart submits completely to you,
And he surrenders completely when he looks at you.
In judging you, sight and touch are mistaken.
taste; but hearing alone is enough to firmly believe;
I believe everything the Son of God has said:
Nothing is truer than this Word of Truth.
On the cross only the Divinity is hidden, but here
Humanity is also hidden; I believe and confess
Both things, and I ask for what that repentant thief asked for.
I do not see the wounds as Thomas saw them, but I confess
You are my God: make me believe in you more and more,
that he waits for you and that he loves you.
Living Bread that gives life to man: grant my soul
that I may live from you and always savor your sweetness.
Lord Jesus, cleanse me with your blood,
of which a single drop can free everyone
the crimes against the entire world.
Jesus, whom I now see hidden, I pray to you
that what I so long for comes to pass: that when I look
Your face, face to face, may I be happy seeing your glory.
Amen.
Saint Thomas Aquinas
